Why being conscious of laws of nature is important? Important to guide us in how we choose to live our every day.

While we are conscious of laws of nature; say in terms of how a plant grows and accept it as part of nature that cannot really be interfered with. If it takes 5 years for a tree to start giving fruit, it will generally take that long.

However when it comes to personal life we think short cuts can work. Short cut in getting a degree, short cut in getting a promotion, a quick buck and so on.

To quote Stephen R Covey
In agriculture, we can easily see and agree that natural laws and principles govern the work and determine the harvest. But in social and corporate cultures, we somehow think we can dismiss natural processes, cheat the system, and still win the day.’[i]

The truth remains you cant cram and clear college and assume life will fall in place. It has its own law of nature that allows no shortcuts. You can see examples all around as you grow older.

A nice tale conveying the truth about process of life was in Coveys book (pg 77)

"Some time ago a friend of mine- a business consultant - was moving into a new home. He decided to hire a friend to landscape the grounds. She had a doctorate in horticulture ...

He had a great vision for the grounds, and because he was very busy and traveled a lot, he kept emphasizing to her the need to create a garden that would need little or no maintenance. on his part. He pointed the absolute necessity of automatic sprinklers and other labor saving devices. He was always looking for ways to cut the amount of time he'd have to spend to take care of things.

Finally, she stopped and said, 'Fred, I can see what you're saying. But there is one thing you need to deal with before we go any further.

'If there's no gardener, there's no garden'"

This is so simple and straight the understand. It reflects what we are facing in our lives today. The rush for completing tasks and hoping overall life balance of health, work, family, social life and spirit will just happen without any daily effort in each field. Some can wait based on which life stage we are in. This is not how life happens. Our today is out of our control since it is result of our past actions, our actions today is our only choice, and we like it or not they simply decide our future. Simple, the way you live every day of your life defines your future; there are no shortcuts. Acceptance of this fact makes life easier to live. Easier to priorities and avid confusing procrastination as having fun. Even relaxation and vacations are important parts of these daily decisions on how to live a day, however life satisfaction changes when we improve the content of our daily routine.

Another aspect worth a read
“Nature is evenly balanced. We cannot disturb her equilibrium, for we know that the law of Cause and Effect is the unerring and inexorable law of nature; but we do fail to find our own equilibrium as nations and individuals, because we have not yet learned that the same law works as inexorably in human life and in society as in nature – that what we sow, we must inevitably reap”[ii].

While it is simplistic to leave it all to a simple karmic cycle, what about other’s karma affecting us? What if his karma stimulates a negative in us. The classic offering other cheek story (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Turning_the_other_cheek) does not really charm, is it that simple. A comment on this dilemma
Between the stimulus and response, there is space.
In that space is our power to choose our response.
In our response lies our growth and our freedom.’
Who and what controls the response is another story.
